Thank you everyone for being here to honor my Mothers Joyful Life. I honestly appreciate that you are here and I know my Momma does.
I would like to begin by reading a scripture from Proverbs 22:6 that really hits home for me. It reads, "Teach a child in the ways they should go and when they are older they will not turn from it." For me My Momma epitomized this.
I will always hold dear the many memories of love my mother gave me as a child and as an adult. I will also hold dear the many times I have been approached by her students, parents of her students, her friends and family who tell me how much they loved my momma, Miss Leslie.
One thing I will never turn away from was how much my Mother loved and was loved. Her family, friends, my wife, my sister and her grandchildren always knew how much momma loved us. Something in the sincerity of her smile and the way her eyes would shine into us made it perfectly understood. My Momma loved us.
I will always honor the way my Momma loved me. I will honor her by loving the way she taught me to and I will never turn from it. Her love was as soul piercing and .as sincere as a mother can love a son. I would not be the husband I am without it. I would not be the father I am without it. I would not be the loved man I am without it. Thanks Momma!
Lastly I would like to share what happened when I asked my mother's spirit to help me with what I am saying to all of you right now. I was in her apt crying and praying for guidance and found a coffee mug someone here today may have given her. It read "A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, what kind of car I drove, what sort of house I lived in. But the world may be different because I was important to a child."
Well momma the world is different now because of the decades of children you were important to and the tremendous love you taught us, that WE will not turn from as we get older.
The children up in heaven just got blessed the way your love has been a blessing to all of us here your entire life.
Thank You and We love you!1
