Dowling Reunion Photos
2023
The annual Reunion of the Descendants of Wm. Hamilton "Ham" Dowling was held June 16-18, 2023, at the home of G. Geddes Dowling III in Beaufort South Carolina. Geddes III is seen bottom row left in the photo.
Several (Richard, Mary with her husband Greg,, and my wife Sylvia and myself) were not Ham's descendants -- he was our great uncle but they welcomed us anyway. We had a great time meeting many 3rd cousins and their families for the first time.

The photo below was taken at a reunion of descendants of Decanie Dexter Dowling and wife Mary Margaret Thames. Each of Decanie's children are in the photo except for Albert Lewis Dowling who died in 1948. The photo was taken at Herbert Lewis Dowling's home in Treasure Island Florida the winter of 1954.

Reunion of Children of Decanie D Dowling and Mary Margaret Thames, Saint Petersburg Florida
The two photos below believed to have been taken during a reunion about 1938 in Saint Petersburg Florida. The date has been estimated based on clothes, the age of some of their children and a video (linked below) showing cars and taken at the same time as this photo.
Left to righr are: Moye Clifton Dowling, Ida Mae Dowling Tuten, James Frankling Dowling, Edna Lenora 'Nonie' Dowling Mixson, Wilbur Boyce Dowling, Harriet Mamie Sue Dowling Fluker, Albert Lewis Dowling and Cameron Leroy Dowling
The second was taken in front of the family's Dowling Real Estate office at 716 Central Avenue. It includes most of Decanie's children with their spouses and some of their children. Missing are Maude Wigins Dowling (wife of Moye), Cameron Leroy and wife Lois Duncan Dowling. Also, May Tutuen's husband Joseph Wade Tuten had passed in 1936.

The first five minutes of the video at Dowling Reunion Movie 1938 includes some of the scenes including several at the location where they took the above photo.
Given the darkness of the original photo and this being my grandfather's siblings, I guessed at putting names to the faces and would be delighted if someone could provide a correction where needed.
Old Dowling Home Movies Circa 1938
When my parents passed away in the 1960s they left about a dozen home movie films. These movies started out on 8mm film, advanced to Super 8, were digitized and then with the advent of YouTube, they were reformatted and put online. The oldest of these were taken in the 1930s by my mother, Saidee E Dowling (Wood), of her uncles and aunts (shown above) plus some of her cousins and thier children. These have the name DOWLING in the title and most were taken in St. Petersburg Florida but others many have been taken elsewhere. They are now well over 80 years old. One was even of a steamboat trip she took to Cuba in October 1938 with her friend Susie Sims.
