An active church worker and a prominent member of women's organizations in the Capital. Mrs. Harrison F. Lewis, of 34 Grosvenor avenue, died on Saturday (1 Jan. 1944) in an Ottawa hospital following a lengthy illness.. She was 51 years of age.
A member of Fourth Avenue Baptist Church. Mrs. Lewis also belonged to the Y.W.C. A. and affiliated organizations. Canadian Women's Historical Society Ottawa Field Naturalists Club, University Women's Club and the Grenfell Association. In the latter she took a special interest.
Born at Cummings Cove. N.B. she was the former Blanche McLeod, daughter of the late Rev Alfred Henry McLeod and his wife Elizabeth Colpitts. She was educated In New Brunswick and Nova Scotia and was a graduate of Acadia University. Following her graduation she taught school in Nova Scotia until her marriage to Harrison F. Lewis, who survives. For a time she resided in Quebec City before coming to Ottawa many years ago.
Besides her husband, survivors include, two sons, Clark, attending Queen’s University; Barnard, attending McMaster University; one daughter. Elizabeth, at home: three brothers. Clarke and Randolph. of Montreal, and Homer McLeod, of Toronto; one sister. Myria, of Montreal.
The body is resting at Hulse and Playfar Ltd. 315 McLeod street, where the funeral service will be held in the chapel on Tuesday at 2 pm. Interment in Becchwood cemetery.

Apohaqui (Kings Co.) March 29 - Mrs. McLEOD relict of Seth McLEOD died at her home yesterday afternoon of heart disease after a short illness. Deceased leaves four children, two sons and two daughters, who were all present at their mother's death. They are Rev. A.H. McLEOD, pastor of the F.C. Baptist Church here; Whitfield McLEOD, who together with his mother and one daughter, Birdie McLEOD, have always resided on the homestead. The other daughter is Mrs. George McLEOD of Lower Millstream. Deceased was a d/o late Samuel FREEZE, M.P.P. and half sister of Sheriff FREEZE of Sussex. She has only one sister living, Mrs. Caleb McCREADY of Penobsquis. Deceased was 72 years of age and a highly respected Christian woman. She was one of the first members of the F.C. Baptist Church. The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock.
