John Day RS was born on 29 January 1755 at Bucks, Pennsylvania, USA.2,1 He married Abigail Poe, daughter of Edward Poe and Martha Brittain, on 1 August 1776 at Baltimore, Baltimore, Maryland, USA.2,1 John Day RS was christened on 22 November 1799 at Bracken, Kentucky, USA.2,1 He died on 14 November 1816 at Batavia, Clermont, Ohio, USA, at age 61.2,1 He was buried after 14 November 1816 at Mount Zion Cemetery, Feesburg, Brown, Ohio, USA.3
He John and Abigail were second cousins. He served in the Revolutionary War. He took his family to Bracken County, Kentucky in 1795. John and Abigail adopted Elizabeth and Amos Williams, whose parents were killed by the Indians. Elizabeth married their son Edward Poe Day and Amos married their daughter Mary.
John Day's will proved in 1816, provided that after the death or remarriage of Abigail, his estate should be equially divided among his eight living children. But Abigail lived on another 32 years, so the division among his children never took place. In 1839, when Isaac was already there and shortly before Edward left, the heirs of John Day who were still alive sold their interest in the estate to Joseph B. Sometime after his death, the old homestead was abandoned, and the property was eventually sold to pay back taxes. After a few years, the new owner gave the property to the YMCA for use as a suimmer youth camp.
John Day and Abigail Poe were first consins once removed. In 1800 they lived in Bracken County, Kentucky and later moved to Clermont County, Ohio.1
