Issac Newton Heggie was born in 1813 at Georgia, USA. He married Nancy Jane Evans, daughter of Humphrey Evans and Jane Jincy Jennings, on 15 December 1836 at Columbia, Georgia, USA. Issac Newton Heggie died in Civil War.
He was heir of the famous Heggie Rock and surrounding lands in Columbia County, GA. It is now under Historical Environmental Protection due to the plants growing there.1
This house was built by Humphrey EVANS (1776-1864) who at his death he left it to his daughter (Nancy) Jane EVANS (1816-1895) who was married to Isaac Newton HEGGIE (1813-1849). Jane raised her Grandneice Eliza Matilda Evans (McDaniel) and later Eliza somehow acquired the house where she and her husband William J. McDANIEL (1840-1885) lived and where their children were born. There is a family graveyard there with graves of family members who served in Civil War along with others. The house was torn down when the Government purchased it in order to build Clarks Hill Dam. The house was located near Savannah River (Georgia side) it was located on GA-221 which crosses Savannah River and goes on to Modoc SC & Clarks Hill SC.- where they would load the cotton bales and send them down river to Augusta, GA, to Cotton Exchange to be sold.1 The land known as "The Point" owned by Humphrey Evans may now be beneath Thurmond Lake. He witnessed the burial of John Humphrey Evans after 1866 at The Point on Evans Plantation, Columbia, Georgia, USA.
