William Jesse McDaniel Sr. died on 16 April 1907 at Appling, Columbia, Georgia, United States, at age 66. Jane raised her Grandneice Eliza Matilda Evans (McDaniel) and later Eliza somehow acquired the house where she and her husband William J. McDANIEL (1840-1885) lived and where their children were born. There is a family graveyard there with graves of family members who served in Civil War along with others. The house was torn down when the Government purchased it in order to build Clarks
Hill Dam. The house was located near Savannah River (Georgia side) it was located on GA-221 which crosses Savannah River and goes on to Modoc SC & Clarks Hill SC.- where they would load the cotton bales and send them down river to Augusta, GA, to Cotton Exchange to be sold.2
