C. H. Turner. Mr. Dowling is a prosperous business man of Fairfax and his bride is a highly accomplished and lovable young woman. They left on the noonday train for Savannah and other points South. On their return they will make their home in Fairfax.

Albert Lewis Dowling, part-owner of several hotels here, who died last March at his winter home in St Petersburg, Fla., left his entire estate, valued at more than $150,000, to his widow, Mrs. Ethel Louise Dowling. A petition for probate of his will was filed today in District Court.

Mrs. Dowling lives at the London Hall Apartments, 1133 Thirteenth street N.W., which Mr. Dowling partly owned. Mr. Dowling was 62 at the time of his death.

Both John Paul Evans and his wife Caroline Lamar Evans died at an early age while their children were very young. Caroline was reported to have died in childbirth, possibly while bearing Eliza. (Eliza was born in 1846.) In 1852 John died at age 34. At the time of John's death their children's ages were: Nancy Jane was 15, Prudence was 11, John Humphrey was 8 and Eliza was 6.

From Guardianship records of 4 Jan 1853: "Whereas, Prudence S, John Humphrey, and Eliza M. Evans- Orphans of John P.J. Wounded by sword in Civil War. This house was built by Humphrey EVANS (1776-1864) who at his death he left it to his daughter (Nancy) Jane EVANS (1816-1895) who was married to Isaac Newton HEGGIE (1813-1849). Jane raised her Grandneice Eliza Matilda Evans (McDaniel) and later Eliza somehow acquired the house where she and her husband William J. McDANIEL (1840-1885) lived and where their children were born. There is a family graveyard there with graves of family members who served in Civil War along with others. The house was torn down when the Government purchased it in order to build Clarks Hill Dam. The house was located near Savannah River (Georgia side) it was located on GA-221 which crosses Savannah River and goes on to Modoc SC & Clarks Hill SC.- where they would load the cotton bales and send them down river to Augusta, GA, to Cotton Exchange to be sold.2

Elizabeth Matilda Evans married William Jesse McDaniel Sr., son of Frederick McDaniel and Emily 'Millie' Holmes, on 27 July 1865 at Columbia, Georgia, USA.2 Elizabeth Matilda Evans died on 26 December 1928 at Appling, Columbia, Georgia, USA, at age 82. She was buried after 26 December 1928 at Damascas Baptist Church Cemetery, Appling, Columbia, Georgia, USA.3

     Both John Paul Evans and his wife Caroline Lamar Evans died at an early age while their children were very young. Caroline was reported to have died in childbirth, possibly while bearing Eliza. (Eliza was born in 1846.) In 1852 John died at age 34. At the time of John's death their children's ages were: Nancy Jane was 15, Prudence was 11, John Humphrey was 8 and Eliza was 6.

From Guardianship records of 4 Jan 1853: "Whereas, Prudence S, John Humphrey, and Eliza M. Evans- Orphans of John P.J. Evans - deceased - are . . . heirs in their own right of a considerable estate . . . do appoint Humphrey Evans [father of John] guardian of the aforesaid Prudence S. Evans, John Humphrey Evans. [and] Eliza M. Evans."

Additonally, "Whereas, Nancy Jane Evans - Orphan of John P.J. Evans - deceased - is heir in her own right of a considerable estate . . . do appoint William J. Evans [brother of John] guardian of the aforesaid."4
