He The Day and Hendrix Families with Poe and allied lines (Sketch as found in "Our American Ancestors 1963, Ruth Hendricks Deverter, page 140)

Jesse Hendrix was born April 12, 1802 in Clermont County, Ohio, the son of Henry and Marth Poe Day Hendrix. At 14, in 1816, he moved with his family from Ohio to Wayne County, Indiana, about 4 miles south of Centerville. Jesse, and his brother John, being the two eldest sons, worked to help clear up the new farm. One day in felling a very large tree in the bottoms below the house, Henry, the father called to Jesse to get out of the way, but Jesse took his time to do so, and was caught by some of the limbs and narrowly escaped being killed. As there were no broken bones, he could soon work again.

At about 17 years of age, Jesse decided to get married. His parents were very opposed to this, as the girl, Miss Polly Knott, was only 15 years of age. But, despite objections, they married anyway, bought 40 acres of land and soon a farm and home, which they soon sold and bought 80 acres, 5 miles away. Later about 1836, they traded for land in Hendricks County, Indiana, onto which they moved, and where they lived until his death. This land was about 2 miles east of Jamestown. Here Jesse kept a tavern, being on the main highway to the Northwest, on the Crawfordsville-Indianapolis road, and his tavern and wagon yard brought him a good income.

Jesse made a splendid farm here, putting up fine buildings, a large brick home and a barn. Besides selling large amounts of grain to movers, he engaged in stock raising, specializing in mules and cattle. He made money and left a large estate at his death.

Jesse Hendrix was a shrewd and successful man. He was said to have been profane and rich, the object of prayers of friends and relatives, but whose ability all respected. He was a Jacksonian Democrat in politics and a Methodist.

Jesse died July 30, 1873, his 1st wife having died several years earlier. They are both buried in the Groover Cemetery, Lizton, Indiana.

Jesse Hendrix married a second time to Mrs. Mary Jane Long, but is said they soon divorced.

***PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A BIOGRAPHY DONE IN 1963. It states Jesse Hendricks to be buried in the Groover Cemetery, Lizton, Indiana. I believe this may not be correct and Jesse Hendricks is buried in the Lowry Cemetery in Jamestown, Boone County, Indiana. The person that took the picture stated the cemetery to be Lowry Cemetery, Jamestown, Boone County, Indiana.1 Jessie Hendrix was also known as Hendricks surname on tombstone.
