AUGUSTA, Ga. - Ms. Gladys Geneva McDaniel age, 91 entered into rest on June 4, 2005 at St Joseph Hospital. Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday June 7, 2005 at 3:00 pm in Hillcrest Memorial Park with Chaplain Dexter Lambert officiating. Survivors include two brothers, Fred McDaniel and wife Ruth of Augusta, Thomas and wife Kathleen McDaniel of Meridian, Ms; four sisters, Margaret Cheely of Augusta, Nina Mitchell of N. Augusta, Gloria and husband Ralph Ireland of Augusta, Peggy and husband Ray McDonald of N. Augusta and several nieces and nephews. Miss McDaniel was a native of Columbia County, and was a descendant of Pioneer families, the Evans, Lamar, Jennings and Percival families of Columbia county. She served in the U.S. Army as a nurse during WW II, she attended Barrett School of Nursing in the 1930's. She also spent several years as a nurse in New York. After returning from New York Miss McDaniel worked as a private duty nurse in the Augusta a rea until her retirement. She was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church. The family will be receiving friends this evening Monday June 6, 2005 at the Funeral Home on Belair Rd. from 7 until 9 pm. Platt's Funeral Home, 337 N. Belair Rd, Evans, GA.

     Harry Vinson McDaniel was born on 29 November 1921 at Appling, Columbia, Georgia.¹ He was the son of William McDaniel Jr. and Annie Adeline Percival.¹ Harry Vinson McDaniel died on 7 December 1921.¹ He was buried after 7 December 1921 at Bethel Baptist Churchyard, Appling, Columbia, Georgia; Bethel Baptish Church near McDaniel home place off Hwy 22, burned down in 1920s.¹
