Levi Holmes McDaniel was also known as may have been known as Sol.1 He was born on 4 December 1831 at Edgefield, SC.1 He was the son of Frederick McDaniel and Emily 'Millie' Holmes. Levi Holmes McDaniel married Martha Sharpton, daughter of Alexander Sharpton and Adeline Bussey, on 30 September 1852 at Edgefield, South Carolina; by Rev. David Bodie.1 Levi Holmes McDaniel died on 9 March 1859 at age 27; murdered. He witnessed the Obituary of an unknown person circa 9 March 1859; "Departed this life in Edgefield District - in the neighborhood of Red Oak Grove Baptist Church - on Wednesday morning, March 9, 1859, in the 26th year of his age. He came to death by a pistol ball fired from the hands of James H. Jones, a native of North Carolina. He has left a wife and four children. Little Mary was already sleeping under the clouds of the valley."
