A. L. Dowling, former prominent real estate broker in St. Petersburg, died yesterday at his winter residence, 2402 Brevard Road. He was 62 years old.

Mr. Dowling was once president of the local realtor’s board and a director of the old People’s Band of St. Petersburg. He resided here until fifteen years ago when he moved to Washington, D.C. where he became owner and operator of five hotels. He has returned here every winter.

A Mason in Brunson, S.C., Mr. Dowling was a member of the First Baptist Church here before he transferred his membership to the Calvary Baptist Church in Washington. He also headed the South Carolina Touring Society at one time.

Surviving is his wife, Mrs. Ethel McDaniel Dowling; a daughter, Mrs. Sadie Dowling Wood and a son, H. L. Dowling, both of Washington; three sisters, Mrs. Maw Tuten and Mrs. Harriet Fluker, both of St. Petersburg, and Mrs. Nanie Mixson, Allendale, S. C; four brothers, W. B., M. C., J. F. and C. L. Dowling, all of St. Petersburg, and three grandchildren in Washington.

Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2 p.m. in Wilhelm’s Chapel, Dr. Earl B. Edington, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Washington later.

Pallbearers will be Edward Mixson, Jimmy Dowling, George O. James, Edward Fluker Jr., Henry Roseberry, Cameron L. Dowling, Vern Sassaman, Bill Thigpen, and Mc C. Dowling, all nephews of Mr. Dowling.

     William McDaniel Jr. was born on 13 April 1886 at Appling, Columbia, GA. He was the son of William McDaniel Sr. and Eliza Matilda Evans. William McDaniel Jr. married Annie Adeline Percival, daughter of Ransom Fredrick Percival and Francis Alice Duke, on 3 November 1912 at Appling, Columbia, GA. William McDaniel Jr. died on 15 December 1957 at Appling, Columbia, GA, at age 71. He was buried at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Richmond, Georgia.

     James Anthony Garnett married Eliza Matilda Evans, daughter of John Paul Jennings Evans and Caroline Rachel Appling Lamar, in 1860. James Anthony Garnett began military service on 10 April 1862 at Georgia Enlisted in CSA Army. Served as a Private, 1st Company A., 12th Battn. Georgia Light Infantry.¹ He died on 19 June 1864 at Atlanta, GA; Died of a disease.¹

     Ransom B. Move married Carrie Bell McDaniel, daughter of William McDaniel Sr. and Eliza Matilda Evans, on 3 November 1890.

     Her married name was McDaniel. Mamie Elizabeth Holson married Moody Humphrey McDaniel, son of William McDaniel Sr. and Eliza Matilda Evans, on 1 December 1901. Mamie Elizabeth Holson died after May 1943.
